OCBA President Ashleigh Aitken Invites You to the 31st Annual Judge Kenneth Lae Charity Golf Tournament

03PresPage15If you’ve ever wondered about OCBA President Ashleigh Aitken’s level of skill on the golf course, she confesses, “I have little natural talent, even less assumed skills, and no time to practice and do anything about it. The only facet of the game I seem to have mastered is wardrobe accumulation.”  Aitken uses this month’s President’s Page on Orange County Lawyer to humorously divulge her golfing talent and invite you to the 31st Annual Judge Kenneth Lae Charity Golf Tournament hosted by the Orange County Bar Association Charitable Fund (OCBACF) on March 31, 2015.

The OCBA held the very first charity golf tournament honoring the memory of Judge Kenneth Lae back in 1994 to “encourage camaraderie among the members, raise funds for legal programs, and enjoy the game of golf that was so dear to Judge Lae’s heart.” Since then, the tournament has become a regularly sold-out event, with more than 100 golfers participating last year, alone. However, Ashleigh Aitken reminds everyone that “it is equally important to keep the memory of Judge Lae at the forefront. He is described by friends as courageous, smiling, and very popular. His lifetime of dedication to our local community, both as an attorney and as a judge, makes him a very deserving honoree at our yearly event.”

As host of the yearly event, the OCBA Charitable Fund provides resources to local law-related organizations and programs, awarding over $1,000,000 in grants over the last decade. Recipients of the grants include Laura’s House – Legal Advocacy Services for Victims of Domestic Violence, the Legal Aid Society of Orange County – Lawyer Entrepreneur Assistance Program (LEAP), and the OC Constitutional Rights Foundation – Constitutional Futures Project: Empowering OC Youth.
