Casey, Ashleigh, Darren, and Wylie Speak at the 53rd Annual CAOC Convention

14Conv

The CAOC held their 53rd Annual Convention last weekend at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) is a professional organization made up of nearly 3,000 attorneys who represent plaintiffs seeking accountability from those who do wrong. During the convention the California legal community got together to discuss current issues affecting consumer law.

Casey Johnson was the first attorney to represent Aitken Aitken Cohn with his speech about visual perception and other human factors and issues in auto litigation. Many drivers and pedestrians overlook the factors that go into perception – factors that could mean the difference between life and death. Casey explained how humans interact with their environment in the context of litigating automobile collision cases as well as pedestrian and driver reaction times.  Next, Ashleigh Aitken shared her knowledge of deposition skills, focusing on difficult or evasive witnesses. In her speech, Ashleigh gave her expert insight and advice on how to deal with hard to reach or problematic witnesses, techniques imperative to legal success. Lastly, Wylie closed for AAC with his speech on Picking a Case Theme – Effectively Communicating Your Message. Wylie discussed how meticulously creating and communicating a message that will resonate with those involved in a case makes a big difference in how people perceive it.

The weekend was a huge success and the AAC family had a great time sharing ideas with other members of the California legal community!
